IGA External Bespoke Seating

As a part of the lease negotiations for the retail commercial tenancy space, the commercial property owners wanted to create an outdoor seating and landscaped area outside the IGA supermarket on Melbourne Street in South Brisbane. There was a need for a sophisticated refresh, so customers were able to utilise this space for their food breaks.

The design needed to be in keeping with the vibrant industrial urban aesthetics West End in Brisbane’s inner south is known for. 

The brief included seats and tables that were outdoor-rated and fixed in place 

To continue the aesthetic of the current walkway, the space needed to house greenery that was easy to maintain and offer a comfortable space for eating and drinking that would not create bottle necks or hazards for pedestrians.

The underground carpark, which extended beneath the outdoor area, was a significant factor in selecting building and landscape materials for the project. Products chosen needed to be made from lightweight materials. 

Leithal Designs designed a modern, tailored space that was a mix of modern and industrial elements, with clean lines and a minimalistic approach.  The outdoor seating design was created with both function and form in mind, and the landscape design helped to create an inviting and relaxed space for customers to enjoy. 

The use of greenery also helped to add a sense of privacy to the outdoor area, and the overall design helped to create a strong connection between the complex entryway and the outdoor spaces.
