Gordon Park QLD
Leithal Designs was approached to design a home for a growing family that would maintain the historic relevance of a vintage exterior while modernising the interior. The home, located in Gordon Park in Queensland, is a 1920-character home on 400m2.
The family wanted a design that would suit their needs and reflect their personalities. Leithal Designs worked with the family to create a home that reflects their individual style while still being true to the character of the home.
Originally a two-bedroom, one bathroom home, building work included adding another two bedrooms, an interior laundry, bathrooms and powder rooms, dining, and entertainment spaces. The interior spaces were opened to allow natural light and air flow throughout the house.
Great care was taken to make sure that the home’s character was respected. In this case, that meant matching the weatherboard exterior and both colonial and federation style fittings of the original house for the next sections. A 1920s style was incorporated into the final aesthetics of the home to adopt its heritage feel.
These thoughtful touches make this home not just a beautiful tribute to a classic style, but also a functional and comfortable space for a growing family. By combining these classic details with a more modern floorplan, the home was transformed into a unique and stylish space that still retained its character.
Leithal Designs faithfully executed a respectful rebuild of a timeless classic Queenslander style with all the modern flourishes for a growing family. The result is a beautiful and functional home that the family loves.
